1954 Buddy L, No.3317 Emergency Auto Wrecker in Original Box
Outstanding pressed steel Emergency Auto Wrecker manufactured by Buddy L Toys (Moline Pressed Steel Corp.). Complete with original crane it easily grades near mint. It comes with its original box which grades near mint - (minus) condition. One of the best examples of this model I've seen! Brilliant lemon yellow enamel streamlined wrecker with low-skirted styling, enclosed cab, and divided windshield. Features a one-piece chrome grille and bumper with dummy headlights. Crane is red enamel with integrated tow hook and no winch. Solid black rubber tires embossed with Buddy L and East Moline in raised lettering with polished metal centers. Pick-up bed floor embossed stamped with manufacturer name and address. Also includes original Emergency Auto Wrecker Buddy L decals on each side. Another version of this truck was manufactured in 1953. It had a chrome hook and different decals. Paint is all factory original without any touch-ups or repainting. Chrome, too, is all original without any over plating. The box was printed with an accurate illustration of the actual truck. It shows the decal style used in the earlier 1953 version. The Buddy L logo, motto, name, and address were printed on the narrow main panels. The endflaps are all text and include the trucks' catalog number. Size: 15½" including crane. Sold: Dec. 2008
